15 June, 2011:
Please be advised that SBSA Card Division has approved the deployment of version 2.0.5 into the SBSA estate.
This new version now supersedes the current 2.0.4 and will be made available via the following channels:
- Facilities – for installation on all devices going forward
- Alieno – for ongoing scheduled automatic software upgrades and also on – demand manual upgrades from Help Desk
The following significant changes have been made in this new version:
- Fleet Card Manual PAN Entry transaction processing – In this new version the terminal will no longer prompt the operator to enter the CVV number for the fleet card as all issued fleet cards have no CVV number. The operator will be prompted to enter the card number and the card expiration date ONLY. The change applies to all fleet transactions for Forecourt and Workshop modes.
- Workshop mode Fleet transaction processing – In this new version the terminal will no longer prompt for the invoice number if the invoice number feature is DISABLED.
The new software package version 2.0.5 comprises the following applications:
- Expendo Manager version 2.0.5
- Expendo CPA version 2.0.4
- Pretium version 2.0.3
Additional information:
We expect SBSA to approve this new version for BP in the coming week AFTER implementation of changes on their back-end systems to support fleet data in authorization request messages. At present this data is sent up to SBSA in the settlement message when the batch is uploaded. There is NO CHANGE in the way the fleet transaction is captured by the operators. The change will result in fleet data being sent online if the transaction goes online for authorisation. As an example, fleet data for forecourt transactions contains:
- Fuel product type dispensed
- Fuel product quantity dispensed
- Vehicle odometer reading
- Vehicle usage type

12 April, 2011:
Please be advised that we have received signoff from SBSA Card for new release package 2.0.3.
The package is made up of the following applications:
- Manager v2.0.3
- CPA v2.0.2
- PretiumPOS Verix v2.0.3
The above applications run on the following terminal hardware:
- Vx810 Duet
- Vx670 GPRS
- Vx670 BT
The following changes have been made to the various applications in this release:
- Manager v2.0.3
- Fixed problem related to manual software downloads that resulted in the Installer module not running if the settlement process was skipped.
- Corrected problem arising from new files not being authenticated when file defragmentation does not occur on the terminal.
- Changed the length of the versioning file names to cater for instances where the filenames were too long for the system to handle correctly.
- Software download Installer module optimised.
- CPA v2.0.2
- Changed the length of the versioning file names to cater for instances where the filenames were too long for the system to handle correctly.
- PretiumPOS Verix v2.0.3
- Initial release of the PretiumPOS application for Verix terminals.
- The functionality available on PretiumPOS (v1.4.8) running on Securas is available in this release i.e.:
- Prepaid Airtime via SBSA AutoServe
- MiMoney Voucher Purchase/Redemption via SBSA AutoServe
- Cheque Guarantee via CGS
Please take note of the following:
- This package is to be installed on all SBSA Card terminals only going forward. The only exception is BP terminals which must continue to be installed with package version 2.0.2 pending further communication from SBSA after consultations with BP.
- In line with the existing process, SBSA will continue to signup merchants for the Pretium service and advise through HEAT when Pretium activation is required.
- There are slight changes in the terminal setup process due to the presence of the new PretiumPOS application. Please see Instructions
- Any new ad-hoc requests for manual software upgrades via Alieno will result in upgrades to this new package for SBSA Card terminals. BP terminals will continue to be upgraded to current package version 2.0.2.
- A controlled schedule of a small batch of terminals has been setup for the daily automatic upgrade via Alieno. Pretium will be invisible after a download and hence no action is required on the part of the merchant.

28 October, 2010:
SBSA have signed off new version 1.3.15 for production deployment. Accordingly, we shall be commencing a controlled pilot in Gauteng.
Once the pilot is concluded the new software shall then be made available to Facilities for installation on all SBSA devices and will therefore become more visible in the field thereafter.
The new release entails an upgrade to the following versions:
- CPA version 1.3.15
- Manager version 1.3.9
Pretium remains unchanged and we shall continue with installation of current version 1.4.8.
The above applications run on the following terminal hardware:
Below is a brief summary of the changes made since the last release (version 1.3.9):
-
Following changes impact processing of Fleet card transactions:
- Added support for online completion of Fleet transactions in line with outcome of floor limit and velocity checks
- Added support for CCD checking on card swipe i.e. flashing random digits entry.
- Merchants will see above changes and therefore need to be made aware when their terminals are upgraded.
-
Following changes impact Forecourt mode terminals:
- Corrected the End of Shift and End of Day totals to correctly print the total amount if the total amount exceeds R 9 999.99.
- Re-worked the End of Shift and End of Day reports to improve the layout and presentation of data. Attached is a sample report.
- Merchants will see above changes and therefore need to be made aware when their terminals are upgraded.
- Made a change to now use parameter 'h' value (received from Host) as the Maximum Oil Amount value to be applied as opposed to current fixed value of R 60.00
-
Added support for dial-up (phone line) connections via the Telkom VSAT system.
- At terminal setup (once-off), select option “VSAT Enabled” for QuickConnect or Speedlink if the phone line connection is made through the VSAT system
- Else if direct Telkom line or PABX line always select “VSAT Disabled”
-
Added support for capture of the FLYSAA invoice (PNR) number and its transmission to the Host during the batch upload.
-
Re-worked Demo mode functionality.
- Offline completion of all transactions done during merchant training
- Requires use of a “demo” card [BIN 999999]
- Test card obtainable from Don/Masopha as well as user guide or if required training on how to use functionality.
-
Following changes impact EMV/Chip transaction processing:
- Made a change to correctly unpack tag 9F36 [Application Transaction Counter] if present in the EMV response data from the Host. This resolves most issues related to “Declined by smartcard” where the issuer had approved the transaction and sent all the required EMV/Chip data back to the terminal.
- Made a change to correctly print the card holder name in line with the value of tag 5F20 returned by the card for EMV/Chip transactions.
- Made a change to EMV Terminal risk management to now use the last successful transaction and use that transaction amount instead of the first transaction when performing floor limit checking.
- Made a change to now accumulate totals under the totals group name defined in the Super Total Groups table.
-
Made a change to address reported abnormal disconnections on Host by instituting a graceful disconnect from the Host at the end of the connection.
-
Disabled the printing of the Software Download report for failed automatic update attempts.
- The report now only prints on successful update.
- Logging to the SDLC log remains unchanged.
-
Re-worked management of auto settlement and parameter tasks to correctly handle acquirer configurations for auto settlement and parameter times.
-
Made a text change to now print "VOICE APPROVAL, MANUAL ENTRY, OBTAIN CARD IMPRINT" for all voice authorised transactions irrespective of PAN entry mode.
- As long as the transaction was voice authorised SBSA now require merchants to do a card imprint for that transaction. This applies to swipe transactions too.
- Merchants will see above changes and therefore need to be made aware when their terminals are upgraded. Attached is a sample new voice auth slip.
